Requirements

Age and residence/golfing association

Any woman over (18) years of age who demonstrates a dedication to the game of golf, an understanding of the Rules of Golf, and a respect for both, is eligible for active membership, provided she is a resident of Washtenaw County, Livingston County, Oakland County, and western Wayne County (area south and west of Detroit).

Sponsorship

Two current AAWGA members with (1) or more years’ tenure may sponsor anyone who would like to join the Association. An application will be presented to the Executive Board for election or rejection. If rejected, another application for membership may not be submitted earlier than the following season of play.

Qualified Handicap

A USGA handicap index at or below 35 is required.

Demonstration of this handicap is a copy of your USGA index from an authorized handicapping service, such as GHIN. An 18-Hole player must be a member of an authorized handicapping service PRIOR to requesting membership.

New members are admitted with a one-year probationary status.  The new members are monitored their first year to ensure the rules of the game are adhered to, as well as well as the ability to maintain proper pace of play.

Proper Pace of Play Guidelines

AAWGA expects all members to maintain proper pace of play for every course we play, regardless of course difficulty. PACE OF PLAY guidelines should be understood & practiced by all members.
